Xmas is always a time for me were the disparity between the HAVE's and the HAVE-NOT's becomes more apparent. The kid who gets so many gifts that they can't finish opening the one before the other arrives and then the kid who is so grateful for your plate of left-overs.
I mention this not to be bleak on Xmas but to say what an amazing opportunity it is to share the story of those less fortunate with the children. Then get them to 'pass-on' one of their gifts to a kid less fortunate. It creates a great sense of sharing, gratitude and understanding that the world is bigger than the household. The joy that the giver feels teaches that on some level we are all connected. Ubuntu. May you all have an amazingly joyful season.
